The Chicago Bar Association is one of the largest and most active metropolitan bar associations in the country. Our purpose is twofold:

  • To provide professional services and benefits to our members
  • To provide educational programs and services about the law to the general public

Founded in 1874, The Chicago Bar Association is one of the oldest and most active metropolitan bar associations in the United States. The Association's voluntary membership of 22,000 consists largely of lawyers and judges from Cook County and the State of Illinois.

The Chicago Bar Foundation, the charitable affiliate of the CBA, improves access to justice for people in our community who are impacted by poverty, abuse and discrimination. The CBF's mission is grounded in the belief that access to justice is central to our democratic society and the the concerted efforts of a few can make a real improvement in the lives of many.
